Fostering Green Growth

We expect that future climate change and economic development programmes will include a significant focus on utilising Nature Based Solutions (NbS) to foster green growth in the Global South.

Within this briefing note, we identify several potential solutions to address the barriers to widespread uptake of NbS, which include attracting funding, effectively governing implementation, and demonstrating benefits. We advocate for a reconceptualisation of how nature is valued, stronger partnerships between government and civil society organisations in the sector, and a holistic evaluation of the success of NbS interventions.

The briefing note also explores various ASI programmes which have engaged in NbS activities over recent years, including our CRIDF and Vuna projects in Southern and Eastern Africa, and the current activities of GROW Liberia and the recently launched Garamba Alliance Activity in the DRC.
