New Non-executive Director appointed

Calum Thomson, a qualified chartered accountant with a career spanning more than 25 years in the financial services industry, has been appointed as an independent non-executive director and Chair of the Audit Committee of the ASI Board.

For two decades, Calum was a partner at Deloitte LLP, advising and reporting to the audit and executive committees of asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, large charities, investment trusts, private equity funds and managers, and banks.

He currently holds a portfolio of roles as non-executive director and audit committee chair for four listed investment trusts as well as the Bank of London and the Middle East, a British bank governed by the financial regulator. He also serves on the board of the regulated subsidiaries of a major UK investment manager.

In a voluntary capacity, Calum chairs the Board of Trustees of La Serenissima, a historical performance ensemble that specialises in the music of Vivaldi and contemporary musicians.

“I am delighted to welcome Calum at this pivotal time for the company. His deep experience in audit and financial management will strengthen ASI,” said Acting Chair Rodney Slee. “He will offer an independent and knowledgeable perspective on the range of governance matters that the company has set as near-term priorities.”

The appointment, effective immediately, resulted from a global competition conducted by a leading executive search firm to identify candidates with strength in the areas of finance and audit. Further appointments of independent non-executive directors will be made to the ASI board in the near future.
