Adam Smith International becomes a certified B Corp

ASI joins global movement of ‘business as a force for good’

ASI-Bcorp

London, 25 September 2019 – Adam Smith International has been certified as a B Corporation, proving its credentials as a company that demonstrates a balance of profit and purpose by meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and legal accountability.

“The Board and my colleagues across the company are incredibly proud of our ethics, values and achievements,” said ASI CEO Jonathan Pell. “We have worked diligently for almost three years to refine our governance, corporate structure and triple-bottom line mission. It is heartening that our high standards have been recognised, and gratifying to feel we are contributing to a broader corporate culture of positive impact for employees, communities and the environment.”

B Corp certification is awarded after a business has undergone rigorous independent verification to determine that it contributes to an inclusive and sustainable society. To be certified, a company must have voluntarily structured itself to create value for society, rather than just for shareholders.

The certification is awarded by B Lab, a non-profit organisation that has awarded B Corp certification to 2,500 for-profit organisations around the world. ASI achieved the second highest score among a 226-strong community of B Corps in the UK.

“We are delighted to welcome ASI to the B Corp movement. ASI is a business that is committed to doing good around the world, including in some of the poorest and most fragile countries,” said Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK. “It’s exciting to see these principles embedded throughout the business, and for ASI to join us on the B Corp mission of ‘business as a force for good.'”
