We are delighted to announce the confirmation of Jalpa Patel as our CEO. Jalpa has been Interim CEO for the company since November 2020. Despite 2020 and 2021 being turbulent years with Covid and volatility of the aid and development sectors, Jalpa’s excellent steering as Interim CEO contributed to the company’s strong success during this time.
In her role as new CEO, Jalpa will guide the company in its mission to transform lives by delivering impactful projects around the globe and especially in fragile contexts. She will do so with an emphasis on our triple bottom line of people, profit and planet and guided by principles of a proud B Corp.
Jalpa Patel is a seasoned development professional with over 20 years of experience across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Prior to taking on the Interim CEO role with ASI in late 2020, she was the Director of ASI’s Governance Practice where she designed, led and managed some of our most strategic governance projects. Prior to that she worked with the World Bank in Afghanistan and the UK Department for International Development.
“I am very proud to have been appointed as ASI’s Chief Executive Officer. I am very much looking forward to building on our record of delivering exceptional projects that deliver real impact and respond to some of the toughest development challenges around the world. I will also maintain our reputation for hiring and nurturing the highest calibre staff in the sector, who are our biggest assets,” Jalpa Patel said about her appointment.
“In her 14 years with ASI, Jalpa has shown real commitment to not just advancing our company and its relationships with key stakeholders, but to delivering real results to the people we serve in the most complex countries around the world. In her tenure as acting CEO, we all have come to appreciate Jalpa’s calm, steady and balanced leadership approach and commitment to reflection, self-awareness as a company and passion to improve. I have no doubt these traits will continue to make Jalpa an excellent CEO and leader for ASI,” said David Hopkins, Chairman of the Board.
