Palestine
The situation in Palestine remains politically complex, with the peace process stalled; divisions widening on the status of Jerusalem, settlements and the right of return; increasing distance between the politics and socio-economic circumstances of the West Bank and Gaza; and persistent weaknesses in governance and security provision.
ASI has been active in Palestine since 1999 across the spectrum of negotiations, security sector reform, and governance, working on behalf of the UK and others. For 12 years we ran a Negotiations Support Unit with the Palestine Liberation Organisation. Since 2012 we have advised the Palestinian Area Security Forces and Ministry of Interior. More recently we began work on civil society capacity building in the West Bank and Gaza.
